In the Myst script that I'm writing, Anna first exposes Atrus to the D'ni when he shows her an unusual rock that he's found. She hesitates, then decides to show him a big D'ni volume on geology. This book ignites his interest in the D'ni, and goes with him to D'ni when he finally travels there many years later ...

Sketches from a Bathhouse in San Francisco

In Japantown, San Francisco, there is a communal bathhouse called "Kabuki." I desperately wanted to go, since I hadn't been to one since leaving Japan. The hot bath, the cold bath, the sauna, the steam room ... afterwards, you feel like a million dollars!

After an hour's happy bathing, I had curry rice for lunch and did these sketches.

Sketches from San Francisco

I went to San Francisco for a few days, accompanying my boyfriend for the AGU conference. We stayed at the "Queen Anne" hotel in Japantown. The Queen Anne used to be a school for girls. It was very adorably decorated with Christmas gear. I drew some of the fancy pieces of furniture.

We also went to the Academy of Sciences museum, ergo the wild dog, toad, ibex and the stingray.

My favorite book in the whole world! I'm creating a screenplay version as a side project. Hopefully some day I'll get to produce it!

Oh, and the bottom is just kind of tacked on ... those are sketches from books. They are related in the sense that they were done with the tv on.

Oh, and the zebra that looks like a mouse ... I just threw that in because I liked him. ^__^
