I think that an artist has a responsibility to expose the art that they create to the world as best as possible. I'm more of a hobbyist, but I think that a professional artist's role in society is to give birth to ideas, put them in a communicable form, and strategically expose them to the world to let them reach a form of maturity. I don't think that it is appropriate to just get the exposure however possible, but, if an artist chooses their outlets carefully, and thinks about how they present their work, I think they can maintain, to a high degree, the original intent and feeling that went into the artworks creation. Sorry for the wordiness here, but your post made me start thinking about this with a little more clarity. Definitely worth thinking about.

Fantastic!

I've actually just recently finished watching Deadwood (and what a fantastic series it is), and it is such a clever show and just looking over what you've done shows me a lot of what you can miss just by only watching it once.

I'm not very confident when it comes to storyboarding but this gives me a good idea of how I could improve on mine, and about how little movements and correct composition can make all the difference. :)

I am a big Deadwood fan (it's probably my favorite TV show ever), so seen this makes me so ridiculously happy! I really need to watch season three again. All these little panels are really great, I love how expressive and dynamic they are. The characters are all instantly recognizable!

In which of those main components do you like doing your work? I mean, all of those look complicated but fun! I must agree that there's free play on general stuff, but when it comes to serious matters such as Networking and Marketing, more specific tasks are done. Good luck on your career!

The mind map is complex. The end nodes on the right may change over the years, but the core nodes on the left (content creation, free play etc) those are the ones that I wanted to really get on paper.

The mind map may look complex, but what I had in my head before that was an even bigger, more wild mess! I wrote that down and cut things that really weren't that important to me. Let them go. So I could focus on these things that are important to me.

Anyway, thanks for writing!

Your tutorial is a very helpful lead in for what I want to do with my own art.
Your information was specific and easily understandable in describing why you consciously chose what you did.
Seeing the actual examples of your rough thumbnails gives me encouragement in coming up with my own designs.

I'm currently taking a story boarding class, so I'll definitely be keeping this information in mind. Checking out "The Visual Story" is also a definite 'to-do' on my list as well.

I worked a lot on my commercial portfolio in the past, to show clients I could do the stuff they wanted. Until I found out that I didn't like the things my clients liked, and became an animation producer. Now my quest is for investors who can see the value in what I produce under my own direction, having a financial participacion of future profits in exchange.
